Too soft a focus I'm afraid. I see potential here, the colors are very interesting, almost abstract. The branch of the palm, especially in soft focus, doesn't frame the photo, it almost cuts the abstract colors in two, like a dagger to the heart of your picture. Unfortunately there is also too many angles and objects sticking up along the structures in the lower left. Had you found a horizion a bit smoother, like rolling dunes, or buildings with fewer angles and vegetation, this picture could concentrate more on the play of the colors, which is what I think you may have been aiming for.
Soft focus is designed to leave important details clearly evident, but to soften context and unimportant details. You've gone too far, IMO, to really meet the challenge.
IMHO I like the colours you have in this shot and it looks like the silhoutte would be nice but for me, this is too blurred and not what I would call soft focus
I am not a fan of the border at all it is much to distracting from an already bold colored image. For me the sunset is not the best subject for soft focus. 4
To me, this is just blurred and not soft focus. I don't really see a subject with a diffused type glow, which would define it for me. I'd probably remove that vivid bright blur frame as well. The simple white one would suffice, or maybe none at all. I'm sure the sunset is beautiful in focus. Hope this is helpful. ;~D
