This shot was taken from a bridge over the Chicago river. The wide angle lens I used distorted some of the close by buildings. Unfortunately, since it was a basic challenge I could not fix that. I fixed the angles in the print, let me know which works better.

Per your comments, I actually prefer this version with the distortion over the one that's straightened post processing. The "distortion" kind of adds to the picture in my humble opinion.
Awesome picture - I can easily picture this as a full-page color shot in a travel brochure! Congrats on the ribbon, too!
Amazing night shot! I love the effect of the moon in this one. The way it works with the other bright round light on top of one of the right buildings in the back is awesome. Congrats on the ribbon
Outstanding! Fantastic! This would have ribboned as-is in an Advanced Editing challenge. I would change nothing. GREAT job! Congrats on your first of many. :)
This is awesome Maya! I didn't vote in the challenge, but you did an incredible job. How cool that the drawbridge was up, and I honestly think the building angles add to the shot. I don't think it would improve anything to have straightened them. So congrats on a job well done!!!!
I just knew this was going to win a ribbon, and I'm so glad that it did! It's absolutely stunning! Looks like you have a "night shot" niche!! Very impressive talent!!!!! Congratulations!!!
WOO-HOO, Congratulations Maya. You did it. Your first ribbon. So, how does it feel? WTG, once again congratualions. I was expecting this, I told you too.
definitely my favorite city shot. I really like the bridge and how the sun-times and the building on the right set the stage for the big players in the center/background.
Great Job. The focus is tac tac tac sharp. The colors are amazing. The bridge and the buidlings on the left really work to focus the viewers eyes to the stunning city lights. BRAVO 9
One word comes to mind when I look at this.....C R I S P .......the exposure is dead nuts. Great Job! I love how the bridge and the leading lines from the buildings on the right frames the skyscrapers in the background. My only gripe is the "Chicago SunTimes" seems a bit out-of-focus/blurry. Overall excelent image
The sharp detail is outstanding as is the control of the exposure to avoid blowing out the highlights. The raised bridge does a good job of adding an internal frame in the shot.
I'm not sure the bridge helps this shot, it's a fantastic location and a tighter frame may have improved it? Anyway could be the tired ramblings of a student with loads of work, good luck for the challenge. 7
This an absolutely amazing shot. :) I love how the bridge leads your eye up to the lights on the top of that building and finally to the moon peeking out through the clouds.
Yikes, aren't you glad you went back out?? Wonderful shot. Having the bridge in the foreground, and the distant city framed by closer buildings really makes this shot pop. The moon adds an exclamation point. Wonderful job!
