Photo taken with my new camera while I was perched on a ladder trying to stay focused on the hummingbird feeder while the dog kept running around in the background and messing with my focus. I haven't figured out the focus lock feature yet. Turned out pretty good, considering.

This shot is fantastic. I know how hard it is to capture hummingbirds, and you have done very well here. The background is great - just enough to tell that this is a nice, green, outdoor setting, but nothing that detracts from the bird. Well done.
Marjo, Thanks for your comment on my Starfish Santa photo. I may have done better in that competition than with the one I submitted for the December open challenge... I knew I should have submitted my Hummingbird shot... Your "Magazine Cover" photo is quite good & I like it... I've been trying to get a great shot of a hummingbird for years... It's sure difficult to get everything right because they are so quick. I just recently got a good 'Birdfight' photo(instead of a dog fight)and during that go round I got 3 different shots of the bird coming directly at me... an interesting shot...although not technically perfect. I may put one in my portolio section sometime soon... Tim
Works pretty good for me. I like the wing blur, stopping that blur is very hard with a digicam. The glare on the back is a might harsh, but overall, I like this very much. Too bad she wasn't up to a real flower, but that's just picking nit. I've tried to get into Birds and Blooms, it's very hard...this picture would be close, I think.

Such a lovely capture and great DOF. Composition just superb, especially for a magazine cover, with title text. Image itself seems very grainy and I think the lighting on the bird could do with being a little more even. 9
Awwwwwww So sweet. You did a good job of capturing this image except around the face could be a little lighter. Aside from the challenge you can use the dodge too. Pretty!
Great job getting the down beat you have got the least amount of motion but just enough to allow to realise the bird is in flight (hover).. Very well done!
WOW! What else can you say but "Wow!" Only improvement I can recommend is reducing the noise with Neat Image. I ran it through and it looked even more impressive. An absolute 10 without a doubt!!!
Great capture, framing and composition. I can definitely see this on the cover of a magazine. I would like to see the wings without blurring! Wonderful shot :)
Great stop action photo here... I can't imagine what shutterspeed you had to use for this photo! I like this photo a lot, although it looks maybe a tad bit dark. The brightness at the top takes away from the main subject, but I'm not sure how you could have avoided that. How muchdid you crop for this phtoo? it looks maybe a tad bit grainy, but doesn't bother me too much. Nice catch! Good luck.
lovely, good line, good use of shallow dof, nice shutter speed to capture the movement in the wings. Perhaps a touch lighter would have been more effective. The light source is from top left but the main action is in the right hand side.
