I'm an “expat” Finn, living in Germany for longer than I care to remember (or since '91, for those so inclined). I’ve also been living and working in Baghdad (in the late ‘80s) and in the Netherlands.
I got into amateur photography in 1980, with a Minolta srt100x, and took the plunge for a Minolta 9000 in 1986. After I had filled all available space (and some that wasn't) with slides, prints and negatives, realized I hardly ever watched them, and never could find the one I wanted when I wanted one, I got frustrated and just about quit.
In recent years I've just had a handful of rolls going through per year, mainly documenting a local blues festival that I help organize.
Now going digital, the enthusiasm is back. The instant feedback, and the non-existent threshold for experiments add a new and exciting dimension to shooting.
I came across DPC looking for something else, was immediately impressed and inspired by the work exhibited, found the concept thrilling, and was hooked. I expect to be entering the odd challenge, when I feel I have something to share.
I’m very proud of this!
