Living in LA most of my life, I started with a Kodak Instamatic in the 70's and purchased my first SLR, a Pentax ME Super, in the early 80's. After High School I didn't do too much with it until I picked-up a Nikon D80 in March of 2007. Went to town on that and took a bunch of online courses before upgrading to the D300 in December 2007 (my wife really loved that...) Now I'm just trying to break a 6 on the challenges, having moved comfortably into the 5's.
The Internet is such a great enabler for communities around shared interests, such as DPC. This place is really one-of-a-kind and I find myself visiting here several times a day, the most of any photo site I frequent.
Goals for 2008:
* Earn 5 4 3 2 1 6.0 or better in challenges
* Participate in a side-challenge every month, and keep up (at least within a few days)
* Vote in every challenge
* Be picked as a "favorite photographer" by at least 5 people
