I’ve been taking pictures for over 30 years. I started back in the 70’s with a hand-me-down 35mm from my Dad. The camera was a Nikon F body he bought while in the army. I took a correspondence course on photography at age 15. I did my first paid shoot at age 17. I’ve stayed with portraiture and weddings for the most part over the years.
The move to digital photography about 3 years ago has allowed me to do much more experimenting with different types of photography. The DPC web site has given me inspiration to learn and try new things.
I’m very impressed with much of the work I’ve seen here. Being in challenges with the other photographers here can only help to raise the bar for myself. While I would love to get a ribbon someday, if I don’t I’ve still learned a great deal. That within itself is enough reward.
I especially like to look at the work of other photographers that explain the details of the shot. I’ve already tried many new things and it’s made a difference already. |
