When I was knee-hi to a grasshopper, I remember being fascinated by my mother’s camera and spending hours in the living room with my family gathered around the Photoalbum. I was given my first camera, a Kodak Starflash, on my eighth birthday and had to have a contact printing kit by the following Christmas. My bedroom closet became a dark room when I got my first enlarger the following summer. I have kept a darkroom off and on, when my living situation permitted it. I always took pictures, mostly snapshots, maybe even a photograph or two. I finally gave in and got a digital camera this spring. I get to use it, occasionally, when I can get it back from my three sons. |

Photography appears to be an easy activity; in fact it is a varied and ambiguous process in which the only common denominator among its practitioners is in the instrument. - Henri Cartier-Bresson |
