 Set all credentials (aperture, focus), then timer, short run, reach out hands with pland and pray it is in the picture. Compulsory flash to make hands clear. Crop, levels, contrast/gamma/saturation and viola.

With a title like this, it seems it would be better if the plant looked like it was still in the ground. As it is, you've just prematurely harvested the last hope. At least you didn't show the end of the stem. :) Otherwise, it's a good image, good use of fill flash. The bottom right is a bit dark.

the hair on the arms draws the eye too much, I like the rest of the picture very much

I think some cropping would have helped. The hairy arms are a bit distracting as is the stem hanging down.
