I'm not a fan of heavily processed images, but something about this -- it works for me.

This is done quite well, but there are 2 things that instantly jump out at me. I find the dogs eye to be a little distracting because there is no pupil. Eyes are so important in any picture and photographing them sideways can make finding the right angle difficult as you want them to retain impact. The other is the lighting but I can appreciate how tricky this would have been to meter.
