First I was not sure what to enter, from looking through the other winning entries I had the feeling that soon I needed to buy some strobe gear. (It still looks that way I guess).
Nevertheless, I thought to get inspiration from looking at the last Rock, Paper, Scissors entries and I realised that landscape shots are still an option.
Seascapes are my passion and I instantly thought of my next outing, and a particular rock in the ocean that I photographed before. I checked the tide chart and the high tide at 1.6m was also perfect for the particular shot of mine that I wanted to reproduce. From looking at the weather radar the night before (6 hours prior) it also seemed that a cloud shelf was moving closer towards the coast.
So I went out on that morning, got up at 4am to give myself a bit of spare time to the 6.15am sunrise with a 45 minute drive. On the way there, 1 hour before the sunrise, I already could notice a glow on the underside of scattered clouds.
When I arrived there my expectations were surpassed and I took a few risks to get a few shots standing in the water. It was not very windy but the swell was sometimes strong and often the water was temporarily up to my crotch, often I had to rip up the tripod into the air and at other times I had to brace myself using the tripod as well. My backpack was lightly touched by salt water once. However, through the whole 1 hour of shooting I did not have to clean the lens or filters once, the sensor had been blown as well, so no spot cloning needed to be applied whatsoever.
I used 0.6 hard and 0.9 soft GND filters by Lee. Later I added a polarising filter but it was not on when this photo was taken.
The colours were so intense at one stage that I was overcome with emotions and I felt incredibly humbled.
I hope you like it.

Congrats and welcome, Frank. You are SO going to be another addict :-) And seeing that shoulder accessory in your avatar, I'd like to encourage a little less risktaking on wet rocks with crotch-high tide....
This just made my day. I got a ribbon - yay. Thanks so much to all the people that liked my shot and voted accordingly and thanks also to the few others who did not like it and voted also. Cheers.
Thanks to Sir Bazz who put me onto dpchallenge. I am learning so much.
Thanks also to the commenters who made the long wait bearable.
Fantastic. I absolutely love this photo. Not an ugly level of HDR, great wide angle, amazingly deep focus and detail in both the clouds and the fog, good saturation. Easy 10
