Wow, now that is some shallow DOF! If you had used a bit smaller aperture I could see this being even better. That way all of the ends would be more in focus.

Cool, nice use of thirds :-P
Such a shallow DOF, I noticed the tiny liniation of focus on the yellow pencil a few mm inward.

the ends are underexposed which is too bad because that's where the focus is

The focus is weird on the ends of the pencils and I'm having trouble getting by that. I think my perception was different looking at the thumbnail first and this is just not what I was expecting.
