Ok, so this really isn't my New Year's Resolution (I don't have one), but I have been wanting to do a shot of my wife's sewing machine for some time now. When this challenge came up, I was thinking of ideas for resolutions that weren't your standard "lose weight" or "eat healthier". I can imagine someone out there has sewing as a new year's resolution :)
Lit this with a flash and mini soft box on camera left, about half a meter from the machine. There was light coming from the nearby window, and with 1/15 second shutter it was allowed to act as a rim light.

Needle-sharp focus for such a shallow DOF, dare I guess 100mm @ 4.0? All my lenses longer than 50mm are slow as snails, so IDk what that would look like but one day I'd like to open my own 100mm 2.8 macro and find out!
