5:22 AM on 01/13/2012. Two hours ahead of sunrise. The moonlight lit the landscape. The Y-Camp in the valley. Light pollution from Denver creeps up from the East. (That's not the sunrise.)
The moon was 42.8 alt 219.3 azi 0.80 full (waning gibbous) at the time of this image capture.

5 hours before the end of voting. Just below 7.0000. Hoping the cleaner at the end of voting will sweep away the punitive votes. I'll be interested to see the vote distribution, as I think I saw clusters of really low votes come in. I know not everyone likes my images, but some of the voting patterns indicated "team voting". Maybe I'm wrong. Tactical voting is not a very classy thing to do.
A good score with 30 minutes of voting to go. Thanks for all the very generous votes.
Hey, those who gave me votes of below "5", let me hear the contructive criticism. Was the image DNMC? Were there any artistic or technical problems. I'd like to know the reason for your tear down votes. (11 votes of below "5".}

Wonderful shot, Richard. I sadly never got around to voting and commenting on this challenge, but I had this pegged as a top-three image. Lovely colors and interesting range of exposure. A touch of everything and a great representation of the challenge theme.
Richard, this shot is very very good. We can only speculate the reason for the low votes. Even though the foreground is native land, maybe those 11 voters did not see the same appeal as the beautiful sky and the dreamy clouds. Congrats on your new ribbon!
This is beautiful. I'm curious to know where this was shot? The star trails seem to indicate that you're looking north, but the north star looks below the horizon. South of the equator somewhere?
I like how the clouds are moving with the long exposure, it's just too bad you couldn't get that effect without movement in the stars.
Very nice capture. :)
rough guess as hahn23 i think i recognise the mountian, love the cloud and the richness of the sky no light pollution in montana hehe, love the feel of day yet clear night sky, most so far havent conveyed that and this is my first 7 42% through so currently highest score, i'll revist when done.(edit for spelling)
