I like the perspective, composition, and idea of this very much -- focusing on the red stitches and picking up that color in the background was a good idea. I do not care for the processing -- very overdone or over-sharpened or something.
The lighting is harsh on the ball. No detail exists at the hot spot. It may work if you were going for something out of a nightmare scene or something. THe subject is good for the challenge though the red laces are overrun by white pixels due to apparent oversharpening.
