I very much liked this shot, I prefer it to your outtake, I think you made the right choice. Lovely, soft and feminine, she looked to me like she had tears in her eyes which made it emotional too. Good work.
I think this is a beautiful portrait; I especially like the softness from the glass and the light. However, my eye keeps jumping to the white line on the side which is very distracting. (voted earlier)
I like the thought of putting something in between the photographer and the subject, maybe a symbolic gesture, perhaps a meaningful point I can't figure out yet.
I like the approach however I may have gone vertical and used the white as natural framing. As it is now the white line to the left of the subject keeps taking my attention.
