Seeing as you used the 50mm prime, I wonder about where the plane focus is lying. As is, you are losing sharpness in the nose and eye sockets. With the composition, that is where the eye tends to be led. I see this picture, which I like, looking better with more overall sharpness, maybe with a smaller aperture?
