Shot with a tripod and shutter release. A 1.4x teleconverter was used, = 700mm effective focal length. Which I needed, as these birds were very shy. Usually keeping far away, or deep in the spruce. Which gave even less light, along with the over cast day. Worked very well though. It's fantastic, what a good tripod and head can do! Very little post processing, other than cropping. Not expecting much from the voters on this, but I just had a slow month. Hard to find good action! mmmm 5.68?

Perfect depth of focus and composition. Lovely soft spruce needles merging into the pattern of feathers on the bird's breast, and these giving way to tack sharp detail on the eye and beak. Great complementary colors as well. This is just lovely.
