 I was really lucky with this foto, as the sun decided to lighten the steam although the rest of the clouds were still dark. So I'm a bit surprised about the not so good critics - What could I have done better?

I, for one, really enjoy these sort of "industrial" shots. In particular I love how the power lines follow the building tops in the left half of the image, and how the tones in the clouds mirror the industrial landscape below.

Great industrial scene. Love the tones as they move from the deep dark grey of the upper clouds down to the steam from the stacks. Cool photo.
