This is just spectacular. The B&W feel (duotone or no) is perfect, the composition and angle of the invitation across the shot are perfect, and the DOF is perfect. And the DOF is appropriate. So many people use narrow DOF "just because" without it really making the eye go somewhere specific.
And all of the things everyone said earlier are true, although I don't know why anonymity was so crucial.
Thanks for providing a great example to try to follow.
Thanks to everyone who liked this. It isn't technically a black and white shot, as it went from colour to a final duotone shot, which gives the slight red tint to the 'blacks' I liked this more than a pure B&W, as I got married in a kilt with a lot of maroon, so it seemed appropriate.
I was suprised by the number of people that commented on the lack of anonymity - didn't realise it would be such an issue.
gordon, a really beautiful shot here. definitely a huge transition in your life! dof weas fabulous, and all th detail you were able to get with the inscription on the inside of the ring...fabulous!
very clean compelling visual. nearly perfect lighting. would like the ring pair just a leeetle lower in the frame, the left ring symettric from the bottom border with the distance the right ring is from the right border
Sorry, but if I know the photographer, I'm going to bias my vote down... (just kidding...=) The depth of field onthis is wonderful! Spectacular focus on the rings. I think you should use this for teh top of your album!
Liked the idea. Lovely clarity in the picture, you can see all of the details on the rings, and good to see a black and white medium used for this sort of shot.
this was an important transition for you, but it appears it has already happened, and now you've gone back to try and recreate it...however, to me it seems like a weak interpretation...but this is only my opinion...i do like the placement of the artifacts, this would look great in a wedding scrapbook or picturebook
If any fits the challenge, this one does. Very good but if its not too late, STOP!---10 Can you not get 100% DOF ? As I think about that, the primary subject IS in focus. It may be you did exactly what you wanted.
Nice. Big transition in my life too ... good to see it isn't just my ring that has taken a battering in the last few months! Would have liked to have seen a bit more reflection from the top of Amanda's ring ... it looks almost black to me
Excellent photo.. very nice composition and very nice interpretation of transition... I'm not too keen on the aspect of this entry not being 'anonymous'.
