So it had been a long, hard week, and I wasn't feeling well again. Of course it was the last day, and I didn't have anything. I had planned on buying a pink calla lily and trying a studio shot, but it wasn't looking promising.
My husband and I went to Lowes to look at flooring (hurricane damage in the kitchen), and then went out to lunch.
On the way to lunch, my husband saw a field of cosmos:
I did a number of shots in the field:
(yes, that last one was in the field -- just very overexposed with a sky for the background.)
And then I pilfered 3 stems and brought them home. This entry is one of the studio shots. The faded flower on the left is just a flower in the background with a shallow depth of field. However, the pink blob on the right is a shadow. It's a pink shadow because I was using a pink gel with my flash to illuminate my white background. Didn't know I'd get a pink shadow, so it was a fun discovery!
A red??? Wow!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Quite lovely! Don't know what a gel is, but it makes for quite nice light! Hopefully it doesn't leave goop all over the flash. :-) Congrats on more bling for your profile page. After a while, I think they issue a second page, don't they? Or maybe just a trophy case! Where's you stamp from Ken? He's slacking!
Congratulations Wendy! What a great shot! I am really fond of the subtle shades of pink, so creamy background opposed to the sharpness of the subjects works fantastically well. Great job!
