I'd been out shooting textures and shapes on some beech trees for this challenge, vaguely aware that cumulus clouds were building to the west. But these sprung up much closer by "really" fast just as I was returning to the car. Took two shots with the 28-75mm which was on the camera, stopped to switch to a longer lens but in that short time it changed again "beyond recognition!".
Original, after Adobe camera raw conversion and a significant amount of cropping:
Added a red/orange filter and adjusted the luminance levels of different colors during the SEP 2 B&W conversion to enhance contrast overall and especially the details in the "face". Another slight crop; Denoise; Resize; Sharpen; Save for web.

I am glad you posted the original Penny. The original is astonishing also. Your conversion, perfect.
I just loved the image and am happy that got front page status.
Thanks, and I loved your earlier comment about sunscreen!

Congrats, Penny! That must be Puppy Bear sleeping peacefully after recovering from all the trials and tribulations of his health. Beautiful and peaceful image!
Congratulations Penny, on another yellow ribbon. Good job on the post processing within the basic editing rules to emphasize the detail. That was a great catch.
