Street photography can really pay off. You get to see people doing all kinds of cool stuff, like cutting edges off of bricks with a terrifying-looking circular blade that is spinning so fast it has to have a water drip from a fire hydrant to keep the fine dust from getting all over.
And all dude had on for protection is a set of yellow vinyl kitchen gloves. Now THAT takes some balls and sure as hell earns my respect.
pp: oh gawd you really want a list?! RAW-TIFF conversion, crop, brightness/contrast, clone, dodge/burn, vibrance/saturation, text, fill, paintbucket, place...and finally resize and sharpen. Oops guess I forgot to flatten. Oh well.

OHHHH Susan.. LOVE IT>> and Congrats on a top 20 in a feirce compotition!! Had a couple of mins this morn to run fast thru these, as I haven't even seen them! The words are just hit home GREAT!!!
I was sure this was a setup because the guy's technique in hand holding the brick is so amazingly dangerous and stupid! The shot is beautifully done and picking out the brown for the font is perfect. The message left me a touch flat because I have spent more than a few hours on a wet saw and if one of my guys used one like this, I would have bitch slapped him before he ended up in the hospital with a broken finger and my insurance rates went up, not to mention the fact that he is grinding off the diamonds by using such sloppy cutting technique. Sorry, I'm sure no one else was bothered.
By the way, you can pretty much feed your naked hand into the blade and it will not cut you. It only cuts something harder than flesh, like a fingernail or masonry. The danger comes in binding the material you are cutting on the blade, which will slam your hand against the slide board and break the bones in your fingers.
....one of my nightmares!!!!!......along with deli slicers and sink garbage disposals....... you mean there is no safety shield with these things yet?????.........bone and flesh chilling ohhhhhhhhh myyyyy goodnesssss
Or have the management do this for once.
Indeed, respect... also for you who captured this moment perfectly. I do hope you succeeded from the first time and didn't ask the fellow to start over several times.
BTW: don't these guys weir some kind of protective gloves in stead of those simple, nearly household gloves??
I do take some offense to the message. Not all managers are hands off. Some do just as much "grunt" work as they did before becoming a manager, plus the management duties. (Don't worry, I do understand the jest)
