This was shot during vacation on Lake Huron, Georgian Bay. I loved being on the beach, with the sun, the wind, the sound of the waves washing up, the gulls and the loneness that we were afforded most days at this particular spot on the beach. To me, all of that was "serenity" and the simplicity of this shot being simply sun, sky and sand, (I think anyway) speaks for itself as part of the title.
Are the elements "serene" to some people? Perhaps, not but, when it's been a hectic year with a lot of problems, it speaks serenity to me, personally as that's how I felt while there with all of those elements.
Black and white for this shot? Nah. The colours are necessary as part of that beauty.
In hindsight...post challenge....I think that my title threw the view of the shot off. I should have titled it something else. :)

I love the lines (shore and horizon) and the patterns (clouds and sand) just by themselves. The high contrast and the sharpness though, are at odds with the "serene"ness in the title. Might've been better off as a Black & White I think.
