Your photo leads into that ‘brink of mist’ beyond with strong shapes (created by the stone wall, lush greenery and winding road). The fog softens the green colours in the background really nicely. Thanks for sharing this photo with me in the 'mist' thread and bringing to life some of the words in the poem therein ...the ‘whiteness’ - mist - that your photo has in the top third, (like the words in the poem), could be like that place that’s the ‘brink to life or death’, perhaps?
I would thank everyone for their votes and comments.
I should explain that the morning of this picture I had just driven through the thickest fog I have seen in years, yet the sun was blazing through and made it nigh impossible to avoid it looking like blow-out.
The sky was actually as it seems in the picture.I don't know if I could fit a gradient filter on my lens but the suggestion seems to be the only answer.
Good shot, nicely framed and thought out. Once again though a bland sky lets the image down. I would crop out the sky, down to the top of the first hill on the right. You would loose most of the bland sky without loosing the main interest and focus of the image.
The frame gets lost in the brighness of the horizon and might have been done away with or a darker color chosen. The white sky is, as some told me once in the Deep DOF challenge, a "no no". Minimaliizing it with a crop in this image as is might have been a way to go. Not sure. The road is very interesting. I like its composition....I think if you had move some to your left that it might have enabled you to include in the foreground a bit more for continuity of it through out the image to its vanishing point. A very fine effort none the less. Good luck!
Very nice photo. I wonder if it was taken a little to the left whether the road rather than the wall would be emphasised more. At the moment the very strong vertical line of the wall is a bit dominant
What a lovely scene - and perfect for the vanishing point. Do you carry a graduated ND filter? If so - use it on shots where the sky is so much brighter than the foreground. Nice flat lighting works for this scene.
Nearly a nice shot, but the burning-out of the mist areas is hugely annoying, and not necessary, though admittedly it's a difficult situation to deal with. Besdes which, good compositional elements, especially the sweep of that road through frame, and good colour and exposure (though I still wish you'd had to bring that back, rather than losing control of the sky like that). Good tones. 6 - burn-out loses you a couple at least :-(
I really like the shot. There are no parallel lines, but then your interpretation is more of a vanishing point to me, than just neverending street/railway/path (you name it). This in fact is vanishing for me.
If anything - the air could be either clearer (and bluer) or even more foggy and misty. But hey, we only have a week for that.
I hope you rate as high as I did you :)
