Only pretty standard editing, nothing exciting to report here.
I guess the "painting" isn't very obvious, which is a shame, since the pelicans were totally in the dark.
I was amazed to see that this statue survived the January floods - the pelicans were covered in assorted junk, but they made it through. Quite an achievement, considering all the stuff that went down our poor river at that time.

So yes..... the pelicans ARE the subject of the "painting" - without the light, you'd only be seeing them in silhouette.
No, I did not make the statues, I'm afraid I'm not clever enough for that :-)
Website showing statue.

Well, you don't need me to tell you that this is a successful image - most of the 131 people who voted have already told you that.
Let's put the painting with light part aside for a moment. The part of the image that most fascinates me are the interplay of shadows and river in the middle distance - make the whole thing look like a faux-backdrop. At the same time, it is clear to the brain that it is genuine and that adds to the whole effect.
I suppose to me the background is a touch overexposed but that's a difficult call without seeing what a darker image would look like. The image has nice coloration throughout but I'm particularly taken with the pastels of the flowing water.
I never dipped into this challenge so I'm glad to have had the opportunity to view this image.
im glad to see i wasn't the only one "fooled" by the painting source, you did TOOOO well with it! i'm sorry i didn't give you further benefit of the doubt with this image it's truly beautiful.
Fantastic image my dear friend and congratulations on a wonderful placement. Looking forward to seeing these cute little birdies when I visit...oh, you didn't know I was visiting... well I am. :O)
although i believe this will get a ribbon just for its sheer beauty, i think the level of technical difficulty (painting) doesn't appear that of a longer exposure. (im making my guess based on the city lights.) if i am wrong i apologize. i scored this a 7 because it's just awesome and beautiful.
Interesting subject matter. Implies a story of cyborg pelicans coming to the city, discussing their plans to take over the world. My only nitpick (and this might sound incredibly nitpicky) is if you angled it ever so slightly more, so the slight shadow line on the right edge of the picture on the water is cropped out, it would give the water a greater sense of three-dimensionality and give the pelicans a greater sense of space in relation to the bridge.
