 A photo of opportunity. This challenge was taking a lot of thought. I eventually drove by a local pond and saw this blue heron in the tall grass. I pulled over, grabbed my camera. I slowly walked towards the pond while looking through the viewfinder so I could snap a shot at the moment of takeoff. Didn't take too long...

Hard to get distance from the photo but the birds pose is amusing. Looks like he's tiptoeing.

i think the border works well and i really like how the Heron stands out against the lush grasses.

My number one rule on DPC when it comes to challenges is that if I have to explain myself in the title, then it is not the shot I should be entering. On the bright side, I love the deep green syou picked up in the shot.

These big birds never seem to sit still when you want them to. Of course, the movement here makes this photo 10x better.
