I knew I wanted to shoot this dinner since it is my second favorite looking diner I have ever been to. Best looking is Miss Florence Diner in Florence Mass. Bette's closes at 2:30 (breakfast and lunch only) so I got there around 3:00 and waited while the staff finished the books and cleaned up. Once they were out, I shot this through the front window. The light from the back window was a bit hash, so I hid the reflection off the floor as best I could behind the bar stools.
The main issues in processing were to minimise the glare, and to bring up the latent colors in a fairly flat light, since I wanted it toned in candy colored funscape. I brought three varients in exposure into PS from the same RAW exposure to brighten up the corners and knock back the blowouts. Once I did that I copied the file in layers the top one I took into Topaz and used spiceify as a start to get the colors up to match the fiesta wear on the right hand shelves. i used that layer at 45% opacity. Layer two was shifed to black and while and used at 17% opacity on overlay. Third layer was pretty straight. Flattened, DeNoised, USMed, and saved for web, then UMS again.
As shot

Ah, lovely. This shows that post-processing can be artistic and 'creative' (whatever that means).
Your rendition looks as if it was taken from the pages of The Saturday Evening Post circa 1950.
fabulous job.
This is a superb image. I see that this one didn't just drop in your lap either. It took some planning, good shooting, and a lot of thoughtful processing to get it to look this great. It's one of those shots where the photographer's concept and talent make the end result a work of excellence. Congrats on the new ribbon too!
