For those who felt this photo was DNMC, there is an illusion of flatness to this image. The diagonal line is actually the railing of the staircase and was probably about 3 feet in front of the "door" and wall at the back.

I am just going through your portfolio stopping at some images that move me. I love shots of doors and your shot provides a wonderful mood with an excellent composition!
The lines leading to the door create a great focal point including the steps, the top of the kneewall next to the steps leading down, and the break in the wall exposing the block underneath leading up to the door. The color and tones combined with the textures of the masonry work and the diffuse, low contrast light work together to create a moody portrait of a lovely scene. The pop of color really helps to set the door off as the focal point.
Because this was entered in a color challenge, I am sure the DPC voters were expecting shiny, happy colors. However, this moody door shot scores high in my book!
This is a breath of fresh air; great comp. and texture. Something about the deep purple grays that just seem to go with the khaki-esque tan. nice work, nice title, good luck.
