Ok. I really wasn't planning on doing another squirrel. Honestly!! I actually just lucked upon this shot.
The thing is, they keep eating the bird food! I used to be able to photograph birds on my deck railing, but since I let the squirrels eat for one or two challenges, I now have 4 squirrels and they sit and eat anything I put out for the birds.
And I mean they sit and eat!
They don't move -- they just sit until the whole pile is gone!
Anyway, I was trying to get a bird shot for bokeh, and the squirrel kept going after the food, so I put out some peanuts (no salt) for the squirrels to keep them busy.
They still don't trust me. They'll pick up a peanut and immediately jump into the tree. Or they'll pick up the peanut and turn their back towards me.
Well, this one would pick up a peanut, and jump into the tree. After awhile he got tired of it, and tried picking up two peanuts at once. He did it two times and I was able to get off two shots. Here's the other one:
He never did it again. If I wasn't watching, I would have missed it all. :D
Last day of voting. 6.9 -- extra peanuts for the squirrels tomorrow!

congrats on yet another ribbon, well deserved, well done. I knew this squirrel was a star, hope you pay him well :-) i would keep the squirrels comming if they bring you ribbons like this. look forward to seeing the next one.
Birds, then squirrels - bloody hell, I think you had better try Lions next (close up)
Anyway a perfect shot and well deserving of the red - congrats Wendy
What's interesting is I didn't even remember what the challenges that rolled over were, and yet when I logged in this evening I said to myself "Self, I'll be Wendy has another ribbon." And by gosh, she does!
perfect focus, sharp...and blah ,blah, blah...bet you already know all that.. great portrait, every squirrel should have one like this above treehouse fireplace.
Oversharpened on my monitor... but PERFECT for the challenge. I love the black background and him shoving those nuts is as quickly as he can. Reminds me of someone... oh wait! me. *sigh* 8
