I found this day lily in a local park. I enjoyed the curves and the flow of this composition. The natural background was green, but it was rather bland, so I positioned myself behind the flower for the photo and let the leg of my blue jeans become the background for the shot. I think the blue complements the red and orange better than the bland green that was present in the scene.
Lens: Sigma EX 105mm f/2.8 Macro
Post Processing: Slight crop to remove some of the leftover bland green background that was still visible, minor level adjustments, unsharp mask, and resize to 640 pixels on the long side. I also removed a few specs of pollen from the burgandy area of this blossom.

Flowers are usually so beautiful that sometimes photos don't reflect all the beauty , but this is not the case with yours. The blue color of the jeans contrasts with the rich and warm color of the flower.
It seems that the light come from the inside , a touch of magic !
I feel good looking at it .
Beauuutiful colour and satisfyingly crisp subject. Any opponents of flower shots should be silnced by this one! Love it and no reason not to award top marks - aprat from the slight criticism of crop (positioning) - less top and more bottom would be good, so [9]
Exceptionally artistic! Perfect composition and superb lighting. The range and value of colors is stunning. If this doesn't win a ribbon, consider yourself robbed.
One of the better flower macros, the glow from the base is nice. I probably would of croped a bit tigher, might be a tad to much room at top and right side 8
