What an interesting and frustrating challenge. I shot more than 300 images, on at least 4 separate shoots. Studied, watched videos, read web pages, viewed Weston images over and over again. I had 6 entries for which I was not happy with any of them. Then I un-submittted and decided I wasn't going to enter. Then I went though all my shots again, one last time and remembered that Weston was only trying to bring out the simple essence of the thing he was shooting. So I decided to enter a plain landscape shot, but it's more than a landscape shot. Look for the hidden meaning, and please vote your heart.

This was one of my highest marked entries. I also thought that it was very Westonian, whilst not being a standard Westonian shot, so a lot of extra points in my book. You definitely deserve 5th place after all that hard work. In the end, of all the entries, this image spoke to me most.
lovely b/w image - it almost has a bit too much emotion for a Weston - but the crop is right, the conversion is solid and the composition is really good.
