A ribbon with such a score !? Wow, I can't believe it.
Thank you all for your comments and votes. I do agree with most of them: the lighting is not very "Weston"(I had to shoot this at night, and used strobes indeed). Also, it is quite hard to find strangely shaped vegetables nowadays, at least in usual big cities' groceries and stores: everything is calibrated and standardized... makes you realize how sad this is.

ETA: Thank you for recalculating the challenge's scores after biased votes have been detected. I had no clue if my ribbon would hold, but it definitely was the right thing to do.
Also, I feel sorry for Laima's DQ, her photo was way better than mine, and I really hope to see more of her work in upcoming challenges.

Aye. I read your comments and agree. There was definitely a misunderstanding about what Weston was all about as far as lighting was concerned, throughout this entire challenge. Weston was a master at using subtle lighting for contrast and shape. Almost to the point where you'd be hard-pressed to believe he actually cared about lighting at all. So something like this being a blue ribbon was a little shocking.
However, DPC always speaks, so congrats on the blue :D I'm glad that you yourself understood that it wasn't exactly the "Weston" way, but C'est La Vie right?
Your French is probably better than my English, so feel free to go on! As for your "thingie", I can imagine very well what kind of shape you're referring to, I myself came across similar ones before discarding the idea ;-)
I was going to say it was the lowest ribbon score I ever saw, but then realised that you came second rather than third... so second lowest ribbon score I've ever seen :-)
I like the lighting in this a lot. Not Weston-esque, perhaps, but still nice.
I've come to realise I should try commenting in French on your shots (hoping you'll forgive the lack of accenting, poor grammar, woeful spelling and embarrassing attempts at the language... haven't spoken/written it in 7 years or more and wasn't good at it when I did either)...

I think I may stop commenting in French if that's OK :-)
Well done. And an astute observation about the produce available in our major markets these days. Finding a Weston subject in a standardized world. Not easy work these days.
Congrats, man, you seem to ribbon with everything you shoot. Must admit I gave you a 6, because of the strobes reflection, everything else is perfectly Weston.
congrats on another ribbon Christoph! Perhaps you should've brought your light source (umbrella or soft box?) closer to the tomato for a more distributed light source, but a great shot regardless.
Lots of similar styled images in this challenge, but this is definitely one of the better ones. Good lighting and texture, especially on the tree trunk on the bottom.
Glorious shot. Seriously breathtaking. I love everything about it, and it's just Weston enough to look Weston. Although it seems that you used strobes, which he did not usually (ever?) do. The detail of the log around the edges is dynamite. Front page for sure. (not voting)
