This is my long time family friend Richard. An avid biker, he takes part every year in the DJ Run (Durban-Johannesburg) on his 1929 Sunbeam Model 5. A Reliability and Regularity Trial over a total distance of approximately 700km. Shot taken shortly after arrival at the finish, a timed run on day 2. No support crew. No break downs! Not bad for a 50+ year old on an 82 year old classic veteran bike! Richard is a long serving member of the VVC Vintage and Veteran Club. A bunch of bikers who maintain and ride classic machines. He is one of the nicest, helpful, down to earth people I know. I hope I caught that in this shot.
ETA: Wow! in the top 10% of a 300+ entry FS. Thank you to all the voters but especially for the comments from some accomplished 'togs, jmsetzler comment was very comprehensive thanks! and thank you to all the other positive comments.

Great portrait, beautifully captured face without overkill on the processing. The white blur behind him is a minor distraction but the rest of the image is so well done that I gave it a 10 anyway.
This is a great character portrait... very nicely executed and the black and white treatment adds a lot of feeling and texture to this image. I'm a personal fan of this type of shot and yours is one of the best I have seen lately. When presenting a shot like this to a DPC challenge, it's important to find a way to connect the viewer to the image. Even though I don't know this person or have any link to him, this photo makes me want to know him. Drawing in an unconnected viewer is hard to do, but I think you have done it well here... a definite 10 from me... nice work :)
A strong portrait, post processing is very good. The white thinging in the background to the left is a bit distracting, perhaps some dodging there would have helped.
