It makes me think of the brambles that grew up and hid Sleeping Beauty from the world. I've no doubt the little bird is safer in amongst that harsh environment than he is anywhere else.
Could you post the original photo also?
It's a fantastic photo but you worked on it to death and made it in the style of let's say, Dali or Max Ernst (surrealists) rather than the impressionists.
