3-minute exposure at f/5.6 — The shadows are from the light of the crescent moon. Shot an hour and a half after sunset.
I'm indebted to PennyClick for dragging me out of the house on the last evening of the challenge and taking me to her "secret spot" — this one's for you, sweetie :-)

3/15/2011 — I'm sitting on 119 votes, 7.2+ score. This has been the most amazingly consistent scoring I've ever seen on a high-scoring image. I seem to have struck a chord with this one. Looking at the other entries, it seems to be one of the few that actually LOOKS like daylight, yet it's clearly long-exposure-night photography because of the star trails. That plus the buttery-smooth tonalities of the 5D and the fine, crisp detail seem to be elevating the shot.
Interestingly, my "Tarot" entry is resting in potential ribbon territory as well, with 22 hours to go: these are my first two entries since starting with CS5, which I find to be a marvelous improvement over CS3...

Processing: ACR to CS5, Topaz DeNoise, Nik HDR Efex Pro, OnOne's "Black Soft" preset, hue/saturation to tone down color shift to warm in HDR, slight gradient to sky and foreground, Adamus sharpening, resize and save for web.

I was on track to a new personal best score, running at 7.71 and climbing, when out of the blue someone hit me with a 1 vote. That was a cataclysmic hit. Should still be my 2nd highest score, but it's unlikely to make to back to 7.71+ unless the scrubber kills that 1 at rollover :-(

Bear, what a wonderful shot, congratulation on a very well deserved ribbon,
I was among the 10 givvers, and among those who would like to invent an online bunching software to use it with the guy who voted 1.
keep up the good work,
Hi. Fantastic photo! Thanks for taking the time to explain how you enhanced the image, and for including the original. It's great to be able to learn from such experienced photographers. The ribbon was well deserved.
Very impressive result and thanks for the processing info. It may well finally move me to try some of these available tools. The "1" is beyond comprehension, but I guess we still protect free speech and "honor" the fringe elements.
Who were the (14) 5 & under voters? Really? Jeez. I knew this was the blue as soon as I went through the shots. Congrats on a perfect shot for the challenge.
The colors and grain patterns in the wood, as well as the excellent leading line with the shadows up the middle make this one for me. Congrats to you and Penny for the cooperative ribbon quest!
Congrats Robert! Really like this one a lot and it seems everyone (everyone but 1 jerk) did....must have voted it a 1 because we can see stars or something silly like that...
The Master has mastered it! What makes this so much like day to me is the shadow of the railing on the board walk. Beautiful tones, Robert. Congratulations!
I like the varied texture and motion blur in the sky. In fact, this is a strong draw for me. Strikes me as a bear_music image given the rather expert use of HDR. 8
This is the winner...beautifully toned and clean. After reading the thread I will take a guess this is Robert's. Great job and congrats on your ribbon!!!
Color and detail make this another one of my favorites. Beautiful photo. Good luck!
The shadow is fantastic and the more I look at this the more I like it. Has to be in the top of the challenge.
Fantastic job. Wonderful photo. The shadow really takes it up a notch in the daylight perception aspect. Excellent lines, great detail. Stars tell the time. Very well done.
Cool mixture of clouds and stars. Gives the sky a dreamy feeling normally only seen in rushing water. I like how this walkway doesn't have an abrupt end, but instead opens up into the vast landscape.
