 I took this shot up in northern California at a small lake called Echo Lake. It had been very sunny the whole time, but then the clouds came in and it poured for about 20 minutes. I was mostly set up to get some lightning shots, but this guy came out very nicely as well, I think.

It would be more eye-catching to me if the boat were off-center.

I think this shot has potential. First off, it seems pretty dark. Maybe you could brighten it a little in editing. If you consider rule of thirds and leading lines, placing the dock and boat to the left might make a big difference.

The bright white of the boat has my attention immediately turned to the focal point despite the dramatic sky. Bravo.

What is the everyday object here? Just looks like a scenic shot.

Beautiful vista, a little dark. I would change the angle of view to move the boat to the right and get rid of the other boats etc.

Not many people see a boat, a dock or a lake everyday... anyway I would cropped a little more the picture; the sides do not add much
