This is one of the first shots I took the very first day I got my Rebel T2i (my first DSLR)! I spent most of the early afternoon reading the user manual, before finally taking it out into my yard to see what I could do with it.
For the processing on this image for the Best of 2010 challenge, I was inspired by the Negative Image III challenge from September 2010. I had acquired some "new eyes" by participating in that challenge, so I immediately thought of negative image processing when I ran across this image (after browsing through about 12,000 others while I worked my way backwards through 2010). The colors on this one just blew me away after I first converted it, so I couldn't pass it up. The extra bonus for me is that I was able to gain new appreciation for this image after discovering it again and giving it some simple processing that I never would have thought of when I took the original.

post-challenge: thanks to everyone for the kind words and even helpful critiques! scoring on this challenge was quite different than usual, as it started around 5.5 after the first day, then just slowly climed throughout the week. I was quite happy to see it around 5.8, but never expected it to cross from 5.9 to 6 in the last day! This image finally bumped one of the top-5 in my profile. Yay!

Great shot. The focus appears to be off, was this with a macro lens? That's can be hard. Also the resolution of the photo has been lost. Consider lowering the ISO speed?
