This may be a bit of stretch for a portrait shot, but close enough.
I loved the twirling blur of her ballerina "princess" dress. I love this shot and even thought about entering into a challenge, but I didn't have the camera on a tripod and the semi long exposure shows some blur in the tree branches. I didn't think that would work well with voters.
I remember your challenge entry. I think this is fun, but I think you made the right choice. She is fantastic but your right the tree should be in focus to make it a great shot. Love photos like this though because it gives you so much to think about.
The motion blur gives this the impression of a distant memory, recalled decades later.
I agree that it would have gotten killed in a challenge because of the blurred tree. The motion blurred girl, however, is wonderful. Oh, and the topic for the week was "people", not "portraits", so this suits perfectly.
