I'm entering this one not because it's my best of 2010 (anyway, what do we mean by "best"??) but because I really like it. It was taken on a lovely Sunday evening in early June in NYC on the last day of our DPC GTG.
The gentleman in the image, is Nixter. I see Nick as the master of the shadow so it seemed only right and fitting to use this image for Best of. I know a few people (especially those who were with me!) will recognise this, but so be it. I do not anticipate a high score. I don't much care about the score though.

oh Sarah! This brings back so many great memories from that awesome weekend. Meeting up with everyone in NY was definitely a highlight of my trip.
New York was fantastic, but seeing it with a bunch of great friends made it even better!!! Thank you!! : )
I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What wonderful tones and shadows to die for - especially from the fire escape. The detail on the brickwork is perfectly maintained and I'm really impressed by your highlight handling - right up to the limit with none blown. I really like that poster bottom right too.
Critical stuff: I suppose I wish the fellow was walking towards us, but there isn't a fat lot you can do about that.
Overall: A lovely find amid all of the straight-up (albeit well done) eye candy. I include my own image in the vanilla category.
