Thanks for all the comments, the thing on the left is actually an airplane which isn't so obvious from this shot but more apparent when you view the story. It was an intentional inclusion :)

I kind of wish the whole frame were shifted slightly to the right. The obstruction on the left is, if not distracting, then unnecessary. On the other side, we have an interesting ring, which draws attention to the hand, which is cropped off.
