Pinhole creates a tremendously deep depth of field that is usually sofly in focus. In post, I essentially decreased the contrast of the tree region to make it blend in with the unfortunately bland, misty sky. I used Nik Color Efx graduated fog faded to 15%. Gave the image a bit more life.
excellent composition for this shot. gives a very eerie feel, haunting almost. reminds of parts of germany, on a ghostly early morning walk through the fog. this is definitely going into my favorites
My first thoughts when I saw this were "foggy" & "dreamy." I see from reading the other comments that these descriptions have already come up several times. Personally, I like the shot a lot, but have to admit, I don't really know how to judge pin hole shots. I certainly look forward to seeing more of them from you this year, though.
I love this effect, it pops out at you, almost in 3D! The minute I looked at it I wondered how it was done, so really nice to see you left the details :)
Great shot, and I'm sure it would also make a great print.
I, too, am curious to know whether it was foggy or whether the pinhole just lends itself to that effect. Also, I like the symbolism that "California" is just on the other side of a fence...or maybe I'm reading too much into it. :)
I'm curious about something ... in reading a little about pinhole photography, one of the things mentioned is clarity throughout. This photo is rather "glassy" (or "foggy" looking. How is that done with pinhole? Was it a foggy day? Or is it the long exposure?
I really like the contrast thing you have going on here.
So far as balanced, I find the pole in the front balances the tree in the back and there's a large implied triangle too.
I think I'm thinking too hard though.
