Photographer’s Notes On New Year's Day, my daughter, son-in-law and I arose before dawn and drove three hours to Hurricane Ridge - Near Port Angeles, Washington for a day of snowshoeing. Weather was warm - around freezing, wind was calm, and the sun was bright. Fun Fun Fun.
They don't call this Hurricane Ridge for nothing. The ridge is several thousand feet above the Straights of Juan de Fuca and often experiences hurricane strength winds. When it's snowing at the same time, the wind drives the snow into trees forming fantastic sculpted shapes.
For the record, the spots around the sun are ice crystals on my lens. Under basic editing, I couldn't remove them. But when it's this cold, I can't avoid them either. Drat.

Very Great Photo!! I thought for some reason in the fourm you had done this with a camera phone, I was gonna pee down my left leg if that was the case!! LOL CONGRATULATIONS!!
Great deep color. I like the little hints of light, they add a bit of life to the photo.
EDIT: So sometimes, if I leave DPC and return later, it puts the comment I added for a different photo as the comment on some other photo. I'm not at all sure why it does that. But luckily, this comment could be somewhat applied to this photo as well. The hints of light are on the snow, and the color is in the trees.
