Drove to the Shenandoah National Park with the idea of getting a particular mountain shot I had in mind. Only to find out they CLOSE the darn Skyline drive from the end of November through the first week of January!!! Grrr...
I wasn't going to waste my get out of bed at 5am and drive an hour adventure I had going so I drove around the local roads for awhile. Found several places I really liked but the problem is there's no place to pull over on the narrow windy roads. Came across this scene and said screw it, I'm parking with my blinkers on and I'm going to get this shot. Actually had four or five people politely honk and wave as they drove past. Probably thought I was nuts since the wind was gusting at 40mph and it was FREEZING!!!
Actually, I am probably a little wacko. Drive over an hour to stand in the freezing cold just to get a photo for a contest that will most likely net a 5.25 score. :-P
Oh well...it's an adventure, right? :-D

I love the layers of color in this shot, the brown corn, the while snow, the green hill, the blue mountains, the white clouds, the blue sky, the grey clouds... excellent work.
