The Image: This is a new Sudanese migrant to Australia. The shot was taken at our church in Gippsland. We gave our Sudanese young people Christmas gifts like games and skateboards etc. A great day all round.
The Edit: Mainly layer masks for colour, DOF, sharpness, contrast, toning. Was thinking of a thin black border, but changed my mind.
The Prediction: No idea! I like the eye contact, the skin detail, the pose. He is a great young kid.

That's gripping -- goes right for the heart too. It's those hints of color -- the blue in the eyes, the red of the lips -- that make this so effective. For me anyway.
In my first sweep through I gave this a 7...then bumped it to a 9 on my second pass (7, what was I thinking?!). When I came back again I moved it up to a 10. It’s such a compelling shot. His eyes speak volumes…congrats on this capture...it's incredibly good.
