 Flip diagonal and blend with lighter color,
Rotate 90 degrees and blend with darker color,
High pass sharpen.
Stop before it becomes a big white blob. :)

the flip diagonal creates some interesting kind of off-center results that are very appealing. I like the mix of fuzzy & sharp in tihs one. It does look Christmasy. And the original is lovely also. Well done.
