A view of Catalina on a Friday night after work. Intentional camera movement.
Complementary colors are blue and orange. Incidentally, learned a new bit about bringing out colors! First, toned down the temp in RAW to bring out the cooler colors (blues, mostly). Then in PS, did a levels adjustment, first overall RGB (to darken the darks, lighten the lights - spread the histogram out a bit), then adjusted levels in just the blue channel to perk up the blues just a touch. I have a softer version I like a bit better, but this one suits the challenge better.
Hopefully it scores above a 5.

Seeing this entry with new eyes, I wish I could raise my vote. I'm afraid on the first go-round all I saw was "another sunset" photo! The more I look at it the more I like it. The bird reference in your title is apt -- it's like it was painted with a feather.
Wow. I wish I had voted -- this is GREAT!!! I love the softness. I think this would look really cool, printed on canvas in the most ginormous size you could
OMG, you got robbed on this one. This is pure symphony. Many many people on DPC do not understand this image the right way. It has just the right amount of blur and softness for this to be an art piece. I respect the voters, but you are a winner in my mind.
I originally gave this a 7. On second pass, I have uprated it to an 8. Really lovely abstract nature to this shot, and it fits the challenge perfectly. I'm not sure it will appeal to the masses, but if not, it's certainly to feature in the Posthumous Ribbon thread :-)
