Thanks to Adam (AP) for telling Andy (senor_kasper) and me how to get to this place.
Ambient light (wide range of color temp's) + several zoomed speedlight flashes to "fill" foreground subjects during 4sec exposure. Yes Chandi I should have put a warmer gel on the speedlight or make a better eq. on pp.
Thanks for the kind comments and the ribbon!
Dedicated to my dear friends Jim & Teresa Garrison

hehe thanks for the shout out Alfredo, but you guys did the heavy lifting! A very well executed photograph and way to get out there at the unconventional times of night. Grats on the ribbon!
hey alfredo .. congrats on such an awesome pic and the blue .. just goes to show that getting up extremely early can pay off sometimes .. i'm thinking that might be your brother trying to beat you at your own game .. i reckon a bit of brotherly competition is a good thing by the way .. he's not immediately obvious in the pic which makes this even better .. the clouds are awesome .. its the most wonderful image .. congrats again .. :)
Hehe - Can't believe I happened to be the only one who nitpicked on the flash hue :)
Congratulations on the blue ribbon - a fantastic shot from a fabulous perspective.
I see a 'Nike' curve on the bridge - Maybe you can make money off this shot ;)
You know, at the time of voting I wasn't all that impressed with this, it seemed a bit of a "pretty yawner" to me, but it is growing on me now. Technically it's just very well done. You got your flashes, me I just paint with a penlight LOL. Big congrats on the blue!
Aha! I spotted the hidden photographer! :)
So you've got not just yourself, but someone else to wake up at that hour. Kudos :)
As for the picture itself, nicely done - although I think the flash tone in the foreground is not gelling well with the rest of the night scene. My top 10 for this challenge.
Very, very nicely done. There was actually another photographer up at that hour, or are you playing games with us? This is spot on - exactly the correct exposure. I love the reflected lights on the water, and the crispness of the NY skyline.
And only the photographers are mad enough to be up at this time! I take it this is an HDR? Beautifully balanced exposure.
Back for another view, and a bump to 9. In mytop 3 of the challenge.
great photo and one of my favorites. i dont know if i like the other photographer there though. i feel it takes from the main subject (as per your title). 6.
