The second weekend in October is usually the best for fall color in Central NY - so I wanted to take some shots before the leaves were gone. At the start of my drive I passed thru Green Lakes State Park which is loaded with deer - so many that Lyme disease is a real problem here. The deer were out on the golf course so I only had to walk thru a small area of underbrush. There were three in the group but one of them was much smaller and the mother wouldn't let me get close. This one was mid-sized and very curious, which was perfect for my purposes. Handheld - just leaning against some trees. Not comfortable enough with Photoshop Elements yet to fix the small branches/leaves in front of the legs without the fear of messing up.
Wouldn't you know - the Wildlife challenge comes two weeks later - hope to go back and see I can get some more shots of deer - but the leaves are pretty much all gone now so it won't be so colorful as this one.
