Saw this while on a hike yesterday and immediately did a doubletake. Thought for a minute there I'd stumbled upon a skull with a bullet hole in the back =:-0 But no, it's actually some sort of fungus. Nonetheless, I processed it as if it were something scary. It's almost Halloween, after all.
Looked like a CSI evidence photo at first :). If it's the right fungus, you can make a nice salad from it (though this one looks a bit old, you need a younger specimen). But OK, when it comes to fungi, you should ask an expert and not trust a dpc comment :).
I love the grainy sepia.
that's exactly what I thought when I first saw it. it looks like a human skull. The grain is nice and very fitting as well. I high contrast black and white might be interesting to give it that spooky Halloween feel as well. Very nice find.
