My son went to the water park yesterday & when he came home hung his beach towel on the back deck railing. I just went out to collect it to throw in the wash and found this stuck to it. He's dead. I wasn't sure at first, LOL, and he did make me do a step back, then went to get the camera.
When I was stationed in Korea, we had some Cicada's appear out of nowhere... This is the first time I've been pleased to see one. They scared the leaving hell out of me/grossed me out when I saw it in person! Huge kudos for getting that close!
awwwwww poor little cicada .. !!
having a quick look in our awesome new insect gallery .. about time .. !! .. and this one caught my eye ... hope you're enjoying spring .. !! ..:) .. we're just going into autumn .. winter is my least favourite season .. :)
seeing your cicada makes me think of summer .. we have them where i live .. they make the loudest noise on the hot summer days .. i can hardly wait for the warmer weather .. its a great close up shot .. :)
Beautifully executed (the photo of course). Cicadas are such fun if a bit noisy creatures especially for scaring girls with. What a rare time it was when the 17-year "Locusts" came out when we were kids.
We have a lot of these here where I live because of the big oak trees in my yard. They are very sound oriented. If I am using a blower on an air hose, they will come to it like a moth to a light. They zero in on some of the frequencies, probably higher than we can hear. They come to a hand grinder as well.
You did a very nice job on the photograph.
